Hello everyone,
I finally finished my exam. It was the longest and exhausting 9 hours. My exam had a fair mix of IM, Peds, OB/GYN. I was surprised of a very little number of Psych and Surg questions I got. I got at least 10 questions on Biostat and ~5 questions on Psych. There were 2 audio questions on murmurs at the end of 2 of the sections. I think my exam was at the same difficulty level as NBME 3. Most of the questions' stems were about UW length with a few longer ones as in Kaplan qs. About 30-35 questions from each section were manageable i.e I was able to answer readily, but the remaining 10-15 questions were more challenging, and required more time for analyzing. I barely had more than 7 minutes left in each section to double check my unsure and difficult questions. I expected more "horses" questions but was disappointed. In IM, there was more Neuro, Endocrine, Heme, ID than Cardio, GI and Pulm. I was so prepared for MI, PE, DVT etc..; however, there were not many of those on my exam. There were ~5 trauma cases. There were about 5 EKGs, 3 CT, 1 MRI, 3 derm photos.

That's all I could think of now. Let me know if you have further questions.

Just a note, my prep included kaplan notes & DVDs, USMLE secrets, Boards & Wards, kaplan q bank, UW q bank. My UW average 1st time in timed mode random questions: 64%, UW 2nd time: 92%; kaplan qs 81%, USMLE CD 40, 42, 40.
Now the waaaaating....It's going to be the longest 3 wks.
Good luck, everyone!

great TWEETIE....relax now....
u r so lucky coz u dint get psychy qs.....
were those audio video qs on murmurs doable?any tuff ethics qs?and preventive health?....how much was ur NBME score?
sorry too many qs wink

  #4

Which NBME you think is harder? NBME 2 or 3?

  #5

to lakshya: audio video questions were pretty straight forward; my ethics questions were not that tricky; The preventive health questions were not that tough either.
to usmle_dmc: I did only NBME 2 and 3, and my scores were 600 and 580, respectively. In my opinion, I think NBME 3 is harder but more representative of my exam

Good luck, everyone!

Thanks everyone in this forum for your support throughout my review for step 2.
Best of luck to everyone!
To Hanwin: I don't know if anyone has gotten their result within two weeks, but let's aim for the 3 wk wait. Doesn't seem like this electronic report has expedited the process at all. September and October are the busiest months, let's cross our fingers!

Finally the wait is over. Just checked email and score on OASIS. It's been exactly 3 weeks since my exam on August 28. I'm a little disappointed with my score 220/91, but at least that is over. Now, i must start applying to programs and studying for step 3. I'd like to thank all of you here in prep4usmle forum; your encouragement and your help & contribution throughout my step 2 journey are greatly appreciated.
Good luck, everyone!
