hi

i'm somehow confused, when is the indications of FNA versus multiple core biopsies in a breast mass?

FNA is fine needle aspiration for cytology

Ok I think what they may be asking is about the size of the pathology sample to be examined
Sometime in the procedure there is a needle left to guide the surgeon for its byopsy

Depending on the outcome from pathology

There may be the indication to do a lumpectomy or mastectomy ( partial )
to take out the tumor
