hi i did a 14 day observership at a teaching hospital. I didnot ask for LOR as rotations were such that i couldnt interact with one attending more than twice sometimes even once. Now mentioning such an observership without LOR does that sound odd? What if someone do get an LOR from an observership but decides not to use it because it is weak or doesnt pertain to that particular specialty?

I did an observership and did not get any LOR (didn't ask either). If somebody asks you why, just say you thought letters from people who know you better and longer would be more valuable.
