hi friends,I want to apply for both int, psych.but I've heard it isn't safe to apply for both in one hospital.how do you apply for more than one residency? how do you screen hospitals with similar requirement for both fields?
thanks in advance for your help and good luck to all

nobody in the same boat?

there are way too many hospitals out there it is not worth it applying to2 departments in hospitals where dept members may overlap at an interview. so play safe.

I am never going to check with another residency in the hospital to see if applicants are also applying there.

thanks a lot bbb for your help , I think I would apply in the same hospital.

My know someone who got and attended IM & Ped interview in the SAME hospital last year.

also IM and PSych are two specialties too much apart. I dont think the two PD or two PC would even talk let alone discuss about me Dr. jjj lll applying in both their programs!wink

yup... i dont think a psychiatrist will discuss my case with a medicine PD...i hope not!!!wink not that freaked out yet!!!

But the problem is that the residents /PD /coordinator might run into you in that hospital,or the dept are in same building.

Also at lunch time if the residents take you to hospital cafeteria ,you might meet the other dept residents as most of them are there at lunch time..And here you are in your suit again giving interview for another speciality shaking head in same hospital ...and few days ago showing how much you liked their department and wanted a position over there...nod

so here you are caught.........confused.... so this just scares me when i think , ....since it will ruin the chances in both programs confused

Correct, even though I know that PC in Psych, FP and Rads - we don't talk about specific applicants.

It's happened, we've laughed, I've asked the other PC if she was stealing my applicants. I didn't write down the name of the applicant, run to the PD and throw out an application.

We know that getting a residency is hard work and you may apply to different specialties. It's not the toll of death for your application.
