Not sure, but I think cehck aspirin level. Large overdoses may cause: ringing in the ears, tempoary deafness, hyperactivity, dizziness, drowsiness,hyperactivity, seizures, coma.

I agree,aspirin can cause tinnitus ,tachypnea,somnolence and the history of planning to hurt herself following the separation from her boyfriend .So check serum aspirin level

yes may be because she also has tachypnea which may cause the repiratory alkalosis

just to revise things....

asprin toxicity> stimulate resp center in brain sem> hyperventilate and cause hypercapnia (inc Pc02)> respiratory acidosis plus get energy from anaerobic cycle (inc lactic acid prod)> metabolic acidosis with inc anion gap ..

Sx...resiratory symp plus tinnitis (most specific)

diag...check asprin levels and blood gases ..shows...resp acodosis and metabolic acidosis both..

Mx...if pt came with in an Hr..> IPICAC

cam after some hr > charcol

pt came after days> alkalanize the urine with NAHCO3 and frusamide...

I think the answer should be D--first check ABGs and then proceed towards checking Aspirin levels.

ABG is given 96 % ..........
