Dear all Wonder if anyone can help. I followed all the instructions about copying and pasting my personal statement i.e. txt file, word wrap etc, However, when I paste the PS into the box it looks fine, but once I hit 'save' and review/print it, there are new lines everywhere and the text has not wrapped. This makes it very difficult to read. Please ADVISE. thanks bd

i did mine straight from the txt format. when you copy and paste, you tend to get some funny things so you have to read it over and make corrections because certain characters are written like an upside down question mark. in some programs, they specify not more than 500words while other say not longer than one page. short is best.

My PS is 400 words. I gave it to some American to read and some points are so noble and they advised me to erase. I am reading it carefully before uploading. Good luck to all.

Although i finished my 4 PS 2 days ago, now when time came for uploading i am having doubts. Doubts abt technicalities of anecdotes. Remember how they asked you start ur PS withs oemthing catchy maybe an inspiring anecdote ...i did all that but now i am having doubts....The PD might start laughing..."WAS it even some sase to remember?" Goodness the things we have to go thru to enter residency!

That's right sarika. When I gave my 2 PSs to American, they read and laughed, asked me what I mean blalala althouth my PSs are perfectly grammar correct. They said that I used very very noble language. They recommend a little bit noble together with a little bit layman, avoid so noble sentences. Good luck.

calculated by words, not byte You can check your PS by clicking tool--->check word (do not remember exactly).

oh i just realized i copy pasted from a word document to ERAS directly. I did not go thru the .txt format. When funny things appeared i just fixed everything, and left one blank lines between paragraph. Is everyone supposed to do it in TXT format?

Guys you have to be very careful in pasting the personal statement ,it has to be done by a specific method not just cut and paste from word as given in instructione,if you will not do it correctly ,there will be lines ,margins or the personal statement will be out of sequence. So the program will see it like that which is not good on your part.please make sure that you do it right as you can loose points in interview selection process. I have few suggestions foe everybody I did not do my statement and resume myself,my husband did all the statement for me including prooof reading for errors many times, making sure the format was correct and making sure that all words have correct spaces , also he checked that you have to leave one space after the comma or a full stop, please be careful about that so that statement looks good when seen by a program. also he did spell check too by software ,which is very imp. I know it is complicated and painful and there was no way ,I could do it myself .Thanks to him

ok this is what i did. I opened eras, copied my originally uploaded PS, pasted it in MS word, changed the file type as plain text .txt. After which this ps file would open in note pad instead of ms word. I reviewed it over there and then copy pasted it again on eras. There you will see alot of line breaking, just fix that and you are DOne.........
