I just read a post in another forum about people IMG getting in residency last year or this yearconfused

US citizen IMG 1,000 got inn
Non US citizen IMG 3,500 got inn

Why?
There are US citizen that are born, grow and go to school in their countries and then they decide to come to the US.

I thought that been US citizen helps you get inn residency a little, but base on this numbers NOOOOOOOOOT.

Opinions?

non us citizen doesnot include GReen card holders....If you include that i think it will be 50-50

  #3

compare it to how many applied and you will see the percentages are similar. I think there were more foreign IMGs applying than US IMGs.

if we go by % you are correct is almost the same, but if we go by numbers then we are saying that they take 2.5 more non US.

as you said the % is same, the number of candidates applying is a lot less.

u gotta revise ur biostats buddy
numbers don't matter, its the percentage
and if the percentage is not very different then the most reasonable explanation is, that there aren't many US citizen imgs out there as non-US citizen grin

This is only because there are more non us img applying being a us citizen certainly is an advantage because you have no vias issues

This statistic is from first aid for the usmle step 2 ck

US citizen IMGs applied 2029 accepted 54 percent

Non Us citizen applied 4556 accepted 51 percent

Us graduates applied 14336 accepted 94 percent

Hope this helps good luck

non usimg's include Greencard holders. If you take that number out then the percentage for Non US img will be lower than the US img...meaning...no visa issues = easier to get residency
