Hi everybody,
I just come back from Prometric ( 2nd time for step II) today. I am quite happy to finish my exams.
For the first time, 3 weeks ago, exam stopped after 2 and half block because of system failure. We didn't get any explanation but managed to get new permit and date in 3 weeks after calling and emailing several times to ECFMG and NBME. Anyway, this is unforgotable experiences.
Well, I want to tell you, this is fair exam. That doesn't mean I did well.
But, If you study hard, I am sure you ll find it easy. For me , because of time frame, I am just ok. I decided to take USMLE a yr ago and now finished all in the last 6 months. ( CS in Feb, Step I in June)
I think the score is equivalent to amount of time you put in and your basic knowledge. This is not luck. I think luck is < 5 %.
For me , my step II preparation is only 6 weeks.
There is no audio-video in our exam. I check with other candidates.
Time management is very important.
If u finish block earlier, you will gain more break period.
( 9 hrs is quite long exam)
You will get tired in the last few blocks.
My advice is try to master Psychiatry.
Lot of psy Q. I can't differentiate between depression with psychotic ffeatures and schizoaffective disorders.
Lot of senario about ajustment disorder with mood/anxiety ect.
ObGY is straight forward. If u study UW, u ll be fine.
Pead is also not difficult.
Surgery and trauma, I think more trauma Qs.
Internal medicine is not easy.
Well, this is highly competitive exam and you will definitely face difficult Qs anyway.
Last 30 second, I went blank and I didn't tick the answer of last Q. Sad.
I thinks lots of Q are not from UW. ( I have no time to do others like Kaplan)
I just read UW only.
UW is quite helpful. I got only one direct Q from UW but if you read explanation, u can answer most .
My exam is easier than UW.
Internal medicine is 40%, and lots of OBGY and paed. Not a lot of surgery .
As I am career medic, I didn't study medicine. I just gave one week each for pead, Obgy and Psy, surgery.
I don't know what will happen to my score. Praying for God.
My advice is study hard, don't be panic, every Q has one correct answer and u just need to find it.Take it easy.You ll be fine.
I was still working half day ( doing clinic) before I went down to London.
That made me relax.
Now, I am waiting for my score.
I don't know how soon I get my electronic score.
My UW score ( time mode, unsued) is 69%.
USMLE CD is 44,40/38.
Not very good, ll see .
I didn't do NBME and any other material.

Hi Smalley, I read Kaplan notes( Psy,Obgy, Surgery) only.
Didn't read internal medicine and paed.
I listen Kaplan Video for Ethic.
FA and crush step II ( Adam Brochert) are quite good for review.
