Yea, if choose between these two, I would go with the scan provided that the site is not foot/palm or vertebra... These sites are best diagnosed with MRI... In addition, remember that MRI is installed only in big centers and are not on emergency duty...

In Osteomyelitis the first study is bone scan. Xray finding will be present after 2wks. MRI is only for soft tissue studies.

Xray is always the initial test for osteomyelitis even if just 5 days of osteomyelitis infection. if Xray normal in early infection then do Bone scan..but Xray we do first

THANKS iWAS confused because kaplan notes : DBT,peripheral vascular dz,IV drugs abuse,penetrante soff tissue +local bone pain+/- swelling warm erythema ====plain XR=== + ===biopsy aspiration=== debridement and atb === negative===MRI or bone scan if there aren`t swelling because false negative ok soo i do bone scan exept vertebra I` ok i hope thanks !!!!!!!
