Dear Fiends, I has received my step 2 CK score. I was shocked by the score which was 79. Specially after I have step 1 score of 93. Since most programs want scores above 80. Plz I want to ask if the programs that requires scores of more than 80 look more to the average or to each score alone? and what are the chances for competition with these scores? Thank U.

well friend, i know this must be a difficult situation for you, its best that you email the programs and ask them about their specific criteria in this regard, as i have read that some programs give more preference to step1 scores, while others to step2...i can't really be very specific here, but besides scores, there are other ways to improve your credentials....so bottom line don't give up...its not over yet. good luck

I'm sure you are very stressed right now, but anything can happen in the Match, just don't loose hope! May I ask what's your 3 digit score? Did you get the result via email or regular mail, thanks.

i got the same score, 79/193. could not believe my eyes. i thought high end i would be around 90, and low end would be 83 or 82. 82 looow end. i feel like the NBME throws a dart at a dartboard, and you get these random scores. pretty frustrating.

I can understand your frustration, but my only friendly advice is that don't loose hopes, you are in pretty good shape with your step 1 score & apply at all the programs you are interested in irrespctive of their criteriae. Wish you Good Luck for the Match.

Hey propranolol, even I am totally shocked and devastated by my result. I failed by 1 mark ...got 74 (reported online) Step1 was 88/213 And this exam went way better than step1. I took on 17 august and got on 5 sep( i was expecting 19 sept). I actually cannot believe it.....cud it be some error or something. I feel like quitting medicine and doing something else......

Dear (gstar44): I am sad to hear that. I advice you to go to recheck. You will lose nothing. Since failing is failing, whether it was 74 or any thing less than that. So go to recheck, and don't be afraid about the fact that previously no changes in marks happened. I am scared to do recheck since I wouldn't my score to get less than that. I hope you a good luck, and if you did a recheck tell us. Thank you for your support. Good luck.
