hi, i am thinking about if it is appropriate to talk about future fellowship e.g. hem-onc or GI, in the PS for IM residency application; or in the pathology residency application.

On the one hand, i think it is good, because you can make the PD and PC think you have clear goal for future career; on the other hand, i think it may not be appropriate, since this is residency application, especially when you are applying for a community hospital where most graduates NOT go to fellowship.

Could you give me some suggestions, BBB? or anybody has ideas on this?

thanx a lot

I think I did the same mistake last year.

Everytime they called me or I had an interview, I talked about my goal for fellowship. But my feeling was that this information was lowering my chance. Last year I have also mentioned that in my PS. This eary I decided to remove that from my PS and I'm just saying that I want to be an internist.

50% mention fellowship. If it will help or hurt will depend on where you apply and interview. Good luck

I think you can say you want to be a better doctor blah, blah and later on may pursue a fellowhsip dont be very specific. just show vague interest. If you have previous research back ground it should nopt be a big deal.
