Be it Kaplan or any other prep course?
Do you guys feel it's actually necessary, or do you think if you can discipline yourself and use the proper sources*, you can study on your own?

i don't think it is necessary if you have the proper discipline. and the proper sources is also up to you as well. People are comfortable with Kaplan notes since they have always used them. BRS and the other reviewers are good too. It is a matter of what you feel comfortable with.
Personally, i don't have the discipline so i think i am going to cough up the money for a kaplan course. the guilt and pressure of it is what i need to pass this.
but in the end, i would say, ask yourself what you need to study and pass. and go from there.
