I am thinking of applying for neuro as i have a background of Neuro as well. mY question is if I apply to neuro do I have to apply for Internal medicine Transitional/prelim year seperatley & pay for it seperately or do i apply only for neuro & will match with IM 1 yr automatically once i get accepted for neuro?

there are two types of neuro programs. one is Neuro categorical, which is for 4 years starts at PGY1. Other is Neuro advanced, that starts at PGY2. For the neuro advanced one, you have to apply for prelim medicine separately and pay for taht in addition to your neuro program application.
Categoricals are ofcourse a little harder to find than advanced ones but sometimes if you do get matched in neuro advanced program, the neurology people can pull some strings and try to get you in 1yr IM prelim but thats just luck!
