JOHN DYSON the famous scientist was admitted for terminal illenss. he was in and out of coma a couple of times,and now fully conscious and alert. he gives advance directives for his further care. if he were to be in coma again, no heroic measures are to be adopted he tells. later in the night, he tells doc, i dont want this feeding tube to be present". duty doctor agrees on that. next day morning , he is found dead ,and appeared dehydrated. family sues the physian on duty and hospital for the ommission of care. they argue that not to institute any treatment might be correct,but feeding is the most basic care and should not have been withheld in anycircumstances. what is the most likely outcomeof this case?
a. punish the physician, and leave the hospital alone
b.punish the hospital management for faulty training, leave the physician alone.
c. punish both the hospital and physician.
d.legal term for physician and seal the hospital
e. punish neither physician nor hospital

The patient has the right to refuse any medical treatment even feeding tube if he is over 18yr.Exception is Anorexia nervosa when court takes charge

if he has not given iv fluids, does the physician is liable?

Did we need a written consent from the patient for removing the feeding tube or vorbal consent is good enough as seem to me in this case?

Answer is E.
Verbal is good enough.....but consent for what....he is refusing treatment not going for a procedure??....ideally as a medical doctor you will write this on your pt's notes.
