Hi, my Step 1 score is - 84/204, feeling very low at the moment.
Would somebody be able to advice me please as to where I stand, I am an IMG, 2 years experience in the UK + MRCP, would like to apply for Internal Medicine Residencies. I am preparing for Step 2 CK, but not really confident of a great score as I am running out of time.
What are my realistic chances of getting a prematch/match/H1 Visa
Thanks in advance for your reply

Difficult, but I have known people who performed very well in their step2 exams despite low score in step1.

work hard for step2, don't just rush it! remember the score sticks with you for 7 years, so take the exam when u feel confident.

Apply widely, in community programs. U have some previous experience that might help. Dont lose heart!! I know a guy with scores like 76 & 79. But matched last yr in a community program in NY with ab H1 visa, so dont lose heart. Work very hard for step2.. trust me its difficult but not impossible

Yes. nkimg...step 2 is definitely the easier of he two exams. Plus your MRCP is a big plus in places like Mayo etc. Just be on the look out for places which have clinical exp in the UK/Europe as an alternative to USCE.Scores might help your application get noticed. But beyond that you have your CV.

hey guys you are bringing him down.

I think its an ok score. try to get a good step 2 score. your MRCP puts you at higher level in most places. there are some program who take exclusively people from england. So dont lose hope.
