I am sure this topic has been beaten to death by now but lets bring it up again!
MY friend said its good to get into University programs for many reasons. Apart from the obvious ones like prestige and brighter future for fellowships and job opportunities, university programs give you ample time to learn
In a community programs and community affiliated ones, you have to start by day one. Experience matters because you will be making decisions right away. Lots of autonomy can be good for someone with past experience but for people away from clinical medicine or for fresh grad without experience that can be a problem.
Do you guys agree?
I think current residents are in a better position to answer this one.

Speak for yourself.

There are many community programs out there that are far superior to university-based programs. It's wrong to argue whether "community or university". Every program should be considered individually.

@ young doc...

you are right about it..

but if you consider 100 random uni programs and 100 community programs tell me out of those 100 what percentage of those are better than uni programs..

and as you said "community programs out there that are far superior to university-based programs", could you plaease name 10 out of these many which are far superior than uni programs

thanz

Education and teaching can be good or bad anywhere but what about the workload and autonomy. Is that why Good community programs require for USCE/ UKCE or canadian experience whereas others just Prefer it?
