Reactive (secondary) thrombocytosis
Infection - Meningitis, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis
Chronic inflammations and vasculitis - Rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, Kawasaki syndrome, Henoch-Schönlein purpura
Tissue damage - Postsurgical, burns, trauma
Rebound thrombocytosis - Iron deficiency anemia, bleeding, cancer chemotherapy, recovery phase of ITP
Postsplenectomy - Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)
Hemolytic anemia - Sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and other hemolytic anemia
Renal disorders - Nephrotic syndrome
Malignancy - Soft tissue sarcoma, osteosarcoma
Multiple causes
