go for the Match now!!!! S3 in your case could wait until you see all stuff inside the boat. This is from someone who matched and still has to take S3

no, the application process BEGINS on Sep 1st and, ideally, one should submit everything by then. not everyone has all documents (LORs, MSPE, and what-not) available by then; yet, I don't know many people who would rather postpone the whole thing one year for the sake of technicalities. deorivera, it goes like this: If you are an IMG with a green card, don't worry about S3! you can take it even after you become a resident!!! if in the matchiing process, they rank you low is not because of not having taken S3, but for other reasons. As a matter of fact, you would be preferred over an equally well-trained candidate with visa problems. You raised a few other concerns: LORs. Well, my understanding is, correct me if I'm wrong, that you work here in the medical field already. Do all your best to get your LORs from the doctors you work with and you feel they like you. Ideally, you should get 4 LORs from different specialties, yet related to the specialty(ies) you will apply to. You can still submit your application to ERAS and then send them the LORs, that's acceptable. Just try not to delay that too much! And that means a lot of networking and tactfulness as well as assertiveness on your behalf so you can produce those letters (at least 3). A CV is a CV and you will have on ERAS a template that would not allow you too many deviations from the standard. It will take you probably 10 minutes to fill it out. It will take much longer to come up with a very smart personal statement, or in case you apply for several specialties, that means several personal statements. Word of advice, do not copy or get anything from anyone. Just write it yourself, then edit it, have it proofread by native English-speaking people, etc. Creating a personal statement can take a LOT of time and you should do it NOW because you would not be able to submit your application to ERAS unless you submit your statement. For more details, read Isserson's guide to residency; it is very helpful! MSPE is not even an issue now because nobody on ERAS even uploads that damn document before Dec 1st! So, at this point, you have the option of waiting one more year without necessarily increasing your chances or do everything possible to submit a complete application as soon as possible and possibly get matched in 2008! It is your choice!
