Use it - you can say that you didn't realize that he was going to put that line in the letter if anyone mentions it to you. Good luck

thank you bbb for taking time and replying. i consider safe to go with cooerinator's reply as you have experience how this matters should be handled by applicants and how PDs look at it. thanks

Why don't you request that Letter writer to draft another letter mentioning IM instead of radio.... Is it that big a deal? The guy who has written a letter for you, can do this much. Explain him ur situation. Try to imagine a PD's point of view.. He gets 500-600 applications each time he hast to do justice & select the best for his program, He has to chose the one who is genuinely interested in his/her program.... He reads ur letter & sees that IM is a back up program for you, since The letter writer is a radiologist & he recommends you for radiology residency, & If I am not wrong You will apply for prelim Med too If you want to be in radio, So now if PD isnt a fool, he will realise that you're definitely interested in Radio & you dint even care to put a seperate letetr for IM, you just put the same one which u r using for radio.... Well you can explain as bbb said, but You can explain only when u get an interview, what if they dont give an interview on the basis of what I mentioned....... Is asking him for a slightly changed LOR a difficult thing???? I guess not.. Common this is the most imp step of ur life, take it seriously
