Here is something new for me...

Differences between Hand Foot syndrome and Hand Foot-Mouth disease.
By name it looks similar and confusing but itself is completely different diseases.

Hand Foot syndrome is also known as dactylitis. This is an earliest manifestation of vaso-occlusive disease in Sickle Cell anemia. Usually present at 6mo to 2 yrs old with acute pain and swelling of the hands and feet. It involves vascular necrosis of metatarsal and methacarpal bone which seen on X-R as osteolytic lesion.

Hand Foot- Mouth disease.... mmmm yes that is caused by Coxsackievirus A16, and it usually self limited. In PE: painful blister like lesions and cold like symptoms.
