Kaplan Qbank USMLE

hey guys, I took Step 2 CK on July 19th and failed with a score of 175/71. I am really messed up and really don't see how I failed. I did most of the kaplan books and did all of UW. My score on nbme 1 was a 193.

I want to take the exam again at the end of September so I can still enter the 2008 match ( I am going for Psych). What should I study now? I was thinking reading topics in Kaplan and doing Kaplan Qbank and then doing UW the last 2 weeks even tho I already did them.

Any words or any advice is appreciated. I dunno how I'm gonna get through this studying again. Everyday I wake up a full 2 hours before my alarm because I think I am just nervous and anxious and all these thoughts keep coming up in my head about my future. Thanks guys!

hey doc sorry to hear about that. first thing is to keep urself stabilized. just try to foget u have failed exam recently. just try to focus that u gotta do one exam more which is still pending. so, make a fresh start.

only u know wht are ur weakness,, time problem , slow reader? , dont know much, didnt practice questions much. so just evaluate ur weakness in wht area u lack

just practice questions everyday.. and revise those topics whish u need to revise..example for me rheumatology, endocrine,CVS ., renal.

if u feel u are ready to take.. but dont take chance again.. take exam when u feel u are confident about it.

Goodluck

Sorry to hear this man. But remember, you have only failed if you stop trying.

Hey but at least you're close to passing so with a little effort, you'll surely pull it off! Take a look at your scores, identify your weakest areas from the break down and hit them hard. Don't make the mistake of only revising the stuff that you already know well.

You know most of the material already. If there are topics that you are weak on, then concentrate on that. Don't neglect Psych. A Psych question is still worth the same as a Med/Surg/OBGYN/Peads question. Learn that Psych. Check out Boards and Wards book (3rd Edition) for a great quick review book that has important stuff in bold.

Now get to work.

i just took nbme 2 and scored a 380. this is after about 3-4 weeks of studying and redoing UW. i'm not sure, i felt pretty good while i was doing the test but only got a 380 when clicking on the end button. i think that is only a 186 on the real scale.

when looking at the breakdown, i improved on my topics from nbme 1 and the real test, but the other topics went down in score. therefore, i scored around the same (i got a 400 on nbme 1 before my first try of step 2).

how should i study for these questions? and i can't delay the exam another 2 months, but seems like even time is not helping me improve my score. sad

Ok dude I have not taken the test yeat, but this is my point of view
The fastest way to raise NBME is to hit your weak areas, if you have had OB/GYN and @ borderline your score woul be in the 400 something.
Go over OB/GYN and Psiquiatria and the child and puerperian stuff also go over GI and Neurology and try to know that iike you are an specialist in those areas then do a general review and then take another NBME.
That is my humble opinion.
Have in mind I have not taken the test and this is only mAy opinion based on my experience in step1
