2. Which one has starry sky morphology

Thanks for the correlates, Yuna nod cool

OK, I'll start,

1. d. t(9:22)--> CML; chr 22 is Philadelphia chromosome. Proto-oncogene is ABL (Goljan calls it "Ah-blah") and it has tyrosine kinase activity.

  #5

2.t(8:14)-->burkitt's lymphoma-->c-myc oncogene-->LN pattern-->starry sky)-->associated with EBV in 5-15% cases

a. t(14:18) >> Follicular Lymphoma BCL overexpression

b. t(8:14) >> Burkitt's Lymphoma myc

c. t(15:17) >> AML (M3 Acute Promyelocytic) Fusion of RAR gene for Retinoic acid

d. t(9:22) >> CML ( 22 is Philadelphia Chromosome) abl translocation

e. t(11:14) >> Mantle Cell Lymphoma BCL gene dysregulation.

Why do we give retinoic acid in M3 AML?

  #15

edie wrote:

It induces remission. Gene inolved PML/rar (retinoic acid receptor)alpha.

  #17

Go Mytime!!! nod Induces remission be inducing maturation of the cells.

  #18

Great discussion. I wonder why I didn't know this earlier smiling face

Which tumor suppressor gene is is considered the "guardian of the genome" and why? What multiple-tumor syndrome is associated with this gene?

  #20

I chose brick dust, thinking of Silicosis, I think I got that wrong

For the Early Maturation of the Tumor Cells the Tranlocation of the RAR gene casues the retinoic acid receptor blockade. This blockade further blocks the Myeloid Cell differentiation. This Block is overcome by giving all-tran-retinoic acid which induces differentiation in the neoplastic promyelocytic cells into neutrophils which immediately die. Thus death by Differentiation causes a remission in disease.

Isn't silicosis precursor to mesothelioma?

  #23

I am seeing that abestosis is most common for mesothelioma.

  #24

no, edie, the Qs doesn't ask about mesothelia, and has no clue on it, just the career and the restrictive lung disease
