Hi BBB, i hope you are doing well...Thank you for taking time to come here.
My question is same old....Experience at pvt physicians clinic in pvt hospitals where IMG's take history and examine patients...should this Position be called an "EXTERN" or "OBSERVER" in CAF (because there, it specifically asks for POSTION)...The physician says i should write it as "EXTERN" but peopel on the forum say that would be misleading and illegal because img's cant touch patients...The physician is very confident and says whtever you do under my supervision is perfectly fine...i am so confused at this....What do u think?

As long as you are not being paid for it, are under supervision and have insurance (just don't talk about that in particular) then its fine.
Look, programs say they prefer people with "hands on" clinical experience and an observer is not able to do that. So extern is the way to go.

i will be the devils advocate...
these positions which u call..clerkship/externship/observership are entitled in only those places where they have teaching institute or have residency programs like medical college..
( i have done both observership at a medical college and worked with a pvt physician..)
my plan : is to put the work with pvt physician as vlounter work as in description write that u had hand on experience with pat..

I can't tell you what your position was - I don't know what to call all these positions. What was your title? The important thing is that it's under work experience.

I would say write extern, as it is OK with your supervising physician as well. Even US medical stuents sometimes rotate in Pvt physicains clinic and it is considered clerkship or externship.
