I am currently on B2 visa in the US. I will marry my US citizen fiance in the next couple of months and will apply for Green Card and EAD (work permit). In "Expectied Visa" part of the CAF, should I mark J1 + H1b + Immigrant + EAD or only Immigrant + EAD? Should I explain my visa situation at the end of my personal statement as a P.S. note?

Also, since I am currently moving here to the US, but I still do not have Permanent Resident status yet, should I put my current US address as my permanent mailing address or the address from my home country (even though I am moving to the US)?

For the second question, you just put your current address as the mailing address, so long as you live there along the whole process of match.

For the first one, I have similar concern of my own. Co ask!

Can you please answer, bbb?

My answer will be what is the visa that you will be expecting to work on. That's what you put in there.

Silenced md my suggestion is put your visa on work as immigrant
by that you gotta chance to get good interviews and you can apply to the programs who want GC and really in any program if you will have GC during the start of residency i feel program directors will prefer you don write than j1 h1 .
you really have an edge and you can make it in good program if you have good scores also.
all the best

Thank you very much guys. So final word is:
- Current Visa: B2
- Expected Visa: Immigrant, EAD
- No need to specify it on the personal statement

Thanks!

Agree, although I would mention it in PS as well at the end...

So, bbb, since you have more experience in this, do you recommend to explain at the end of the personal statement as a P.S. note or not?

It certainly wouldn't hurt, but it shouldn't be necessary if it's in the expected visa section.
Good luck

Co-thanks! In my case,

current visa--EAD

Expected visa--EAD and immigrant (cause I am not 100% sure the GC will be approved)

This way I may maximize my interview opportunities.

Are you currently working in the US, zhaoju?

No. My GC is pending, I just know I may apply for an EAD card.

So, why are you putting EAD in your Current Visa, if you have not even applied for it yet?

bbb, can you please make a suggestion concerning my second question about the address?

To silenced MD: I applied for EAD once, and it expired. The EAD will be available if I renew it, that's why I put EAD here. Hope my understanding is not wrong.

Hi BBB,

Iam in the same situation now.Currently in H4(dependant). .I have applied for EAD. I tmight take a few months! So if I dont include that I might need H1 or J1 will it be like not disclosing something? Will it affect my chances of residency?

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you except that PDs want to see what visa you believe that you will start your residency with. If you are applying for an EAD, you don't want a J1 visa, becuase then you can't get the EAD.

Perhaps an immigration attorney would be best to answer this question.

Good luck
