I started to work as a Emergency Department technician since May. After I have started there, I met an Emergency Medicine physician and I started to work with him as a Research Assistant for 4-5 hours a week only. It has been 1.5 months since I started the research assistant work as a volunteer. He called me this morning and said that he is starting a another big research and he needs me to work full time with him as a research coordinator and quit my Tech position. I asked to see if I can work both together, but he explained the amount of work that I need to do on the other job and that makes it not possible to work both. What do you think is better for me to do? Should I quit my current job and start the research with him or should I reject his offer and continue working as s Tech in ER? The ER that I'm working in has residency positions and I have been trying to make connections since I started my work. Please let me know what you think and what is better for me. I don't care about the salary, even though the research coordinator will offer more. Thanks

So what are you waiting for?In my opinion, being in research is a plus for a residency postion, but i dont think being an ER tech would necesarily b looked at the same way i.e as being a plus

Ask if any publication generated by the research job will include your name as co-author; that is the most important point. I think you should be able to join the residents/fellows in the mornings for rounds and visit the clinics from time to time so the interaction with staff and showing yourself will not be compromised. Good luck

Thanks guys. Yes, he will include my name as co-author in his publications. Also, the position also requires direct contact with patients which includes blood drawing for lab and history taking. I will accept the offer and hope for good. Thanks
