john wright 48 yrs old ex-cricketer from aukland was brought with compliants of fever since morning.on examination he has stiffneck and photophobia. and maculopopular rash. he complains of head ache and body aches too. lumbar punture has revealed thousands of neutrophils and smear has shown gram negative diplococci. physician has made a diagnosis and attempted treatment with iv ceftriaxone 2 grams, telling patient that he needs to be admitted. at this point of time, john wright , sauve and polite as he was always, refused admission. he however, told doc, what ever the treatment , i will take it at home. what is the most apporopriate answer on the part of physician?
a.honor his wish
b. refuse to treat him,as complaince is lacking
c.admit him and treat him against his wishes
d.refer to hospital ethics committee
e.tell him that he can not refuse treatment since his diagnosis is infectious disease and others are at risk

a competent pateint CAN refuse treatment , even if it means death. PERIOD. except, when it results in death of other people........he simply can not do that. tell him that he cant do that is the answer.

u mean .. cquse the diagnosis is meningitis .. so it can be infectious to others and life threatining to them !!
what about another case if niesseria gonnorhea.. diagnosis was established .. can he refuse ttt.. though he may infect another partners !!
