With all the new technology regarding fertility, a 65-year-old woman was able to give birth to a baby recently. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, the relatives came to visit.

We came to see the new baby?" one said. "Not yet," said the mother. "I'll make coffee and we can visit for awhile first."

Thirty minutes had passed, and another relative asked, "May we see the new baby now?"
"No, not yet," said the mother.

After another few minutes had elapsed, they asked again, "May we see the baby now?" "Not yet," replied the mother.

Growing very impatient, they asked, "Well, when CAN we see the baby?" "WHEN HE CRIES!" she told them. "WHEN HE CRIES?" they demanded. "Why do we have to wait until he CRIES?" "BECAUSE, I forgot where I put him..."

It just puzzled me when I saw a story that a 49-year-old woman had a twin. Then read a news about a 61-year-old had a twin. I realized OK, all these are normal in the states because of advanced everything. But then in an article written by a 40-something celebrity, when she tried so many different ways of trying to get preganent (of course, very expensive procedures), she worn the common people not to postpone till 40 to have baby. sticking out tongue She said most of the successful older mom were not using their own eggs.raised eyebrow I still admire all of them who want to be a mom.smiling face

Anyway, better to be a young mom, cause you are still energetic.smiling facesmiling facesmiling face

I am not agree with you, njcjzy, I think the best time for an employed woman to have a baby is after retirement, because she has enough time and money to look after the baby. grin

whoa, hedieh! shocked post retirement is like 60!!shocked and for docs, maybe never!shocked isn't that way too late?

i think perhaps 35 or so. by then, you'd be relatively established in you career. you would have given your all to your education when it was needed. after accomplishing that, the time would be right to concentrate on family a bit more. these are my thoughts, anyway.smiling face

also medical science is advancing rapidly in all directions. no one better than us to know that, since it's our profession. but, making post-retirement babies on a regular basis is still easily decades away, if at all, methinks.rolling eyes

After retirement? shockedshaking head

One needs to be really energetic to take care of kids, and I think the kids have the right of having a healthy mom around the longest possible. I mean, the older you are, the earlier the caregiver role is going to switch...
