when I do ureteroscopy,lithotripsy,percutaneous nephrostomy

i think

stones<5mm should pass spontaneously, when stones< 2 cm we do shockwave lithotripsy

then from size 5mm to 2cm we do shock lithotripsy , over this size more aggressive procedure or even open surgery ot remove the stone

To the best of my knowledge, patients are always offered to choose from shockwave and endoscopic destruction of a stone that is larger 6 mm... In fact, the risk of kidney parenchima damage with a shockwave is higher than if precutaneous nephrostomia followed by mechanical stone destruction followed by stone fragment removal is performed.
Open suregry is only for struvite stones, as mentioned above by doyoudig...
