Has anybody used PASS program for Immunology? I was thinking about using it because of the way that Dr. Francis teaches. I feel that his teaching method may be very good for understanding a subject like Immunology because he is very active in his approach and he gives you the material in a way where you can imagine what's going on through his expressions and antics. I'm just worried about whether or not he covers everything we need to know. Kaplan just seems to be very dry and boring for Micro/Immuno. I was using Kaplan for Micro but I couldn't take it after a few hours so I switched over to PASS and have been using that along with MMRS. Now, I'm thinking of sticking with PASS for Immuno as well. Does anybody have any suggestions or advice regarding this?

I am sticking to Kaplan for all other subjects besides Pathology where I am using Goljan. So far I am liking Kaplan for everything else.

I recorded the audio from the immuno vids of PASS, put on my iPod and used them to prep for school exam. Haven't touched PASS stuff since. Well, not true--I viewed the first couple hours of the micro vid recently, but waited too late for these. I also used his neuro for school--that section, for me, was the best.

BTW, for micro, got tired of the Kaplan guy too, so got most of my micro from the LANGE Levinson micro/immuno review book, which I love, but I love the immuno section of it even more smiling face

Thanks for the input Edie. So what did you think of PASS program's Micro and Immuno? Also, is the neuroanatomy really good from PASS? I did Neuro from Kaplan but I may want to take a look at PASS also. Do you think it would be worth doing? Also, how did you extract the audio from the DVDs? That would be good so I can listen to the stuff on the run or in my car.

I found PASS helpful because Dr F says things in a way that you just cannot forget. I do not recommed as a primary resource, he leaves out a lot of pertinent HY info. Do his stuff only after you have studied another source, as you stated you were. When I studied neuro in school, I used Kaplan DVD then PASS, and got very high marks on my neuro term exam, so yes, it is worth it. To extract audio, download the Hi-Q audio recorder. It will record whatever sound is playing over your computer sound card and automatically convert to mp3's. So if you are playing the DVD in say, Windows Media player, open up Hi-Q, hit 'record' button, and voila! Just do a google for Hi-Q, not hard to find at all. Good luck!

Same opinions for PASS micro/immuno as for neuro. Do them last after you have read another source. I caught a couple mistakes from his lectures, that is why I say read something else first. For example, in one of the lectures, he says peudomonas is 'anaerobic'. Even one of his students questioned that one, but he maintained that is was anaerobic!

Thanks for the advice Edie. I'm going to look into that Hi-Q recorder. I am starting Immunology today so lets see what happens.
