hi disturbia i didn't share this info with anyone before but just to make you feel better listen to this.

2 weeks ago i sat infront of an Externship director for an official interview. She takes a look at my my scores which are 92 and 94 she looks up and the first question she asks, "how many attempts?" I said well i never failed. She smiles and replies "oh that means you are a GOOD TEST TAKER".

Needless to say i was disappointed but the message is they will fuss no matter what. Still there are people around who respect a doctors attempt as perseverance and strength, Scores or attempts are not the end of the world, so stay positive!

Godoluck!

Dont Loose HEART at allshaking head.......there are many persons on this earth with you on the same boat, even US Med graduates. So, dont think that you will not get residency or what else. Ya.. there are some programs where your application will definitely be rejected but there are some programs where you will get call. So, dont even think to qutting or change profession. You are an IMG and definitely gone through all the staffs what a Doctor should. So far, You did a great job THAN why you will let your efforts go in vein. Just keep in mind, last of all, The 99er and YOU will see a MI patient in the same way--->Where there is nothing to do with Steps. Hope this will help. Just try hard and take the suggestions from this forum and see the experiences of 99er. As, when you aim high , at some point precision and validity will depned on your hard work. As, God is so kind to his servants.... He helps them who helps themselves.............

I have an aunt and an uncle that both had 7 attempts (or even more!!! I just know they had tons and studied for the USMLE's for like 6 years or so)... IMG's with no papers and now live in the US, my aunt is a family medicine with an awesome private practice and a Faculty in kansas city and my uncle is a peds anesthesiologyst and makes tons of money...in fact he did not even match!!! he had to go outside of a big hospital in NYC on the first day of residency and hope that one of the PGY-1 would not go...and that happened and he got the job!!! =) nothing is impossible and I know that your perseverance will pay off some day. Just keep your spirits up!!! nod
Believe me it is sometimes normal for IMG's to have several attempts...my family could not believe that I passed all my exams on the first attempt and all of them in one year, because they thought that the only way to go was having attempts so don't worry it is quite normal...having good scores, like truthfully was said, just means that you are a good test taker and does not mean how good a doctor you will be in the future. GL and keep up the good work.

you cant change the past, but you can make the future better. What I mean is that, work on your CV. Try to get USCE/research/medical assistant/observership. Try to pass your CK on 2nd attempt and CS on 3rd attempt.

Go to a big university hospital and ask to volunteer in medicine department. That is exactly what I did and got the position at Univeristy of Chicago. Keep tyring, NEVER GIVE UP. FAILURE can only make you a stronger person. Keep your head up high and looks forward.

By the way, you are NOT the only person that have attempts. It's something that most of us too embarass to share.

I agree the score and attempts do not matter its that you pass when I was in medical school one of my professors said can I see the hands of people who got ninety nine on the usmle and very few people raised their hand and then he said those are the future pathologists and radiologists usually they are not good with patients then he said can I see the hands of people is the eighty range and almost all people raised their hand and he said these are the future of medicine these are the students who will actually treat people and save lives not look at slides and read films all day.

jajajaja that sounds funny!!! Well I hink it is a little too over the top and a lot like a cliche because you can never generalize like that jajaja I am a 99er and I would never expend my life in a lab or watching slides, there is nothing that I enjoy the most then seeing patients and I think I am very good ad it so remember to never generalize. One thing is true: these are only exams and do not say if you would be a good or a bad doctor and not because you scored 99 it means that you would be better then someone that didn't. Scores help open doors and maybe your teacher said that 99ers would be radiologists because there are very difficult spots to get, but not all of us 99ers are bookworms, in fact if you watch me in the street you would never thought that I am a doctor or a good student......bottom line: never generalize and 99ers are not always bookworms..some of us are really hot people with a great social life nod grin we just know how to distribute our time and we are good test takers that's all.
