drug induced parkinsonism. "Any young adult presenting with parkinsonism should be questioned about the use of street drugs, because mistakes in the illicit synthesis of certain narcotics can result in their contamination with MPTP (1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine), which may cause an irreversible parkinsonian syndrome." - ACP medicine. Amantadine enhances dopaminergic neurotransmission, via increase in synthesis, release or inhibition of reuptake of dopamine
