Hi, I am in the middle of a research fellowship at MGH in Boston. I had the unfortunate priviledge of failing CS, got notice a week ago. I was planning on submitting my application mid-September. I totally understood the phrase "apply the sooner you can with the most complete appl possible". But my question is "If I get to find a slot somewhere to retake it and submit application (hopefully) by late october", is it worth the rush? do I still stand a chance?" My fellowship ends in June 2008, and don't know if I will have funds for one more year to work while I wait for the next match... but if late October gets me nowhere... I really don't know... I know you have an extensive experience on this, and I would very much appreciate your orientation on this. The last thing, which also worries me a lot, is how much would affect failing CS once in the context of my background (residency done in Argentina, maybe 3 years fellowship in MGH/Harvard and a few publications)??? will I get rejected from good programs? should I forget and stop dreaming of top programs? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

You aren't supposed to study for this exam - it will let you know where to start studying for the boards........

Dev - I was camping for 8 days in the northern portion of my comfort zone. It was heaven.
