Headache, seizure, n/v. Opportunistic in AIDS pts. Yes, some immunocompetents can get it, esp pregnant women who handle cat litter (cats get it from mice, I think). See ring lesions on brain CT. Tx: trimethoprim-sulfa.

Thank you for the q. Not sure what crypto looks like on CT. I only know that you can see it w/India ink stain of CSF. It will give halo appearance around buds, due to thick capsules. What does it do to the brain on CT?

Toxoplasmosis do enhance with contrast, while cryptococcus do not.

Toxoplasmosis is usually surrounded by edema.

Toxoplasmosis is usually located more peripherally, while cryptococcus usually show lesions around the basal ganglia.

Also notice that you dont have to see typical "rings", it could also appear as nodules. The rings appear later when the nodules have become larger.
