hi,
I am new to the forum.planning the exam this yr end.i have a qn about application.when selecting states for step 3, is it got to do anything with the level of difficulty of exam other the eligibility requirements.i think many select CT.

Just requirements, the exam per se is the same everywhere.

I have a question,I am planning to apply step 3 this week.so when will my eligibility start once they process my application[say 2 weeks from my submission].

If there is a delay in processing your application, then FSMB will add 2 weeks to the eligibility period as they did with me. Generally eligibility period starts the day you pay your fees onliine.

is it necessary to be enfmg certified by the time of application, in my case all the requiremenst for ecfmg certificate is complete, its just that the verification of medical education credentials which they received last week will take 6 weeks to get processed, and it may be too late for step3 2007 application....so am i eligible to apply with all my usmle scores and my medical diploma???

ssrpk,
You need to wait for the cerification to complete before applying. FSMB will ask about the date of release of ECFMG certificate at the time of application.

thankyou so much for your reply, so i cannot apply for 2007 if i do not get my ecfmg certificate in time, but i do not understand one thing, i am a fresh graduate in the course of pursing post-graduate training in USA and i want to take step3 to improve my chances for the match which is scheduled to be held in march 08. So if i apply for 2008 application and be eligible to take my exam in november or onwards, what impact will it have on my application, will my step3 exam be considered valid for 2008 match.

Of course, it will be valid for this match regardless of the year of application material.
Generally if you apply after Sept 4, you can take your exam no earlier than 1st Nov 2007, even though the application will be for year 2008.
