I need a job while preparing for USMLE and I am considering working as an RN in ER or ICU because I had an RN degree in my country before going into MD program. My Qs: 1. Does RN experience look better than observership/research/medical assistant experience when applying for residency? Some people suggest to work as a med assistant in General Practitioner office, but u would do vital signs only and experience is very limited. 2. If it is counted as a good clinical experience for residency application purposes, how likely it would outweight low USMLE score and serve as a springboard to Genpractice/InternalMed residency? One can easily get Rn job in a residency hospital and it should be an easy way to obtain connections, LORs etc., right? TIA
