I am applying for the match this year and I have been getting advices from my husband's friend. He had asked me not to get the ERAS token until the list of programs I am applying to is completed and hence I did not get it till today, but was just browsing thru the website and got to know that you are supposed to get it and start sending your documents from august 1st !!! God I am so late, I dont even have my LORs and SOP, my professors have not even started writing LORs for me...what should I do? in such a situation how am I going to apply for the match on 1st of september?
One more qn, I have LORs from my home country, I got them about 2 years ago before coming to USA, They are all waived I mean they are enclosed in an envelope I have not seen them but they do not have the cover sheet which says that I have waived my right to see it and its not even mentioned by the professor that I have waived my right, so what do I do? should I just open it and see whether its worth to upload it on ERAS cos I dont think the programs will consider the fact that I have not seen it since the cover letter is not there with it. What should I do?
Thanx in advance smiling face

umm a two year old LOR from a non US faculty wont count much anyway. best is to get LORs from your US profs asap and send to ecfmg. they are scanning documents in 7-8 days time presently so i guess urs will be ready by 1st sept even if u can get your LOR in a week to 10 days time.

and of course get the token, register and start working on your form and personal statement.

well I am surprised that you have not taken the token yet.I guess your husband's friend doesnot give suggestions which are up to date.Get the token now and start working.Fedex your letters tomorrow to ERAS.

And I would open my letters, put an AAMC I.D number on them and add a cover sheet on them and then mail it.Plus I want to see what they have written. If you donot have a LOR other than these ,then go ahead and send these. What are u waiting fornod

Hey relax you can get a token and start sending stuff as soon as you get registered at ERAS. and the sending date it starts at spet 1 yhea but if you start by spet I think that should be ok. Like someone said on this forum " send as soon as you can with as much of scores and stuff as you can" well not in all her words. Good luck !

Hey Thanx for all the replies friends smiling face . I would have a LOR from my research here and hopefully one from my observership, I am not sure about getting one from the country I did my medicine in cos its already late and I dont know how fast those ppl can work on it. So I will have to send that 2yr old one anyway...I will try not to if I get enough from other places,
I dont know whether doing as zianab said would work cos I will getting my AAMC id only tomorrow and the LORs are 2 yrs old I dont know whether the programs get to know when I got the ID or whether the ID has a limit time validity. anyway..if its not late yet then I would definitely put all my time in and try to get everything done.
Gogeta ..... I like gogetism anyway...smiling face
Thanx guys...GL to all of you.

Hey..I have a qn...I have applied for token and I am supposed to get it today, which I haven't yet. I understand that they send it to you to your inbox and sometimes it lands up in your spam and unfortunately this morning me sleepy eyes deleted all my spam without checking it , did not even think for a minute before doing so as it was not in my head at all that I should be looking for the token there. Anyway...now if they havent sent it to me yet or if I have deleted it...what should I do? where can I get it? should I call the ECFMG for it?
Thanx

Agreed with the above quote all the way...
get them sent and scanned... this way you have the option of assigning or not assigning them to programs!!!
