In pts < 35 yrs,

first step is U/S to differentiate cystic from solid or FNA first??

If FNA first, should it be followed by an U/S..??

appreciate help

fna can easily distinguish wheter a mass is solid or cystic
and you do it firts

firts-->fna
1=mass disappear--->reexam in 4-6 weeksfor reaccumulation of fluid-->fluid accum--->fna again
2- after fna mass persists--->mammography and excision after 2 week of fna
3-u/s is other choice for conservative magnament, but l think the fna is the preferent because you can send fluid for citologic

I would say do sono first, it's very sensitive to distiguish between solid mass and cyst for breast. And it's noninvasive and painless.

Agree,
we need to start from a non-invasive method... FNA will follow USG and then USG again to see if liquid accumulates again...

i guess since its <35 years patient will go for USG ... if it was >35 years wud have gone for needle aspiration.....and wait --- if regresses --- good , if not ---excision of mass .
