UW says that MgSo4 is not yet approved for tocolysis by FDA, while on the other hand, ritodrine ( Drug of choice as they claim) is approved.. they mentioned that MgSO4 is used when there is a contrindication for ritodrine.. Is this true, should we choose ritodrine over MgSO4 in case of absence of CI???

MgSO4 is used "off-label" for tocolysis ...and yes, it's the first choice, unless there are CI (renal insufficiency, myasthenia gravis). Monitor the patient for overdose (respiratory depression).
