I did USMLE World and really liked it. I bought Kaplan QBank CDs from 2003+2004 a few years ago and did those too. It's a good combo i felt, but I started doing NBME Form 3 last night and feel like none of the QBanks I used are helpful. I'm VERY DESPERATE now and scared of my NBME end result. Maryam.

I think the UW q's are better since they make you think several steps further.

I just got my scores today, and I got what these guys call a "High 99". I had both UW and KAPLAN Q-banks to prepare for my exam. USMLEWorld is a far better q-bank in terms of difficulty and far better approximates the actual exam in the way the questions are asked. For example: A Kaplan question: "The antidote for acetaminophen overdose is __________." (Answer: N-acetyl-cysteiene) A USMLEWorld question: "The antidote for acetaminophen overdose works by breaking S=S bonds, thus it is also useful in the treatment of ___________." (Answer: Cystic fibrosis. N-acetyl-cysteine is the antidote for acetaminophen overdose because acts to regenerate the glutathione that is used up to oxidize the free radicals created. Since it breaks S=S bonds, it also functions as a powerful mucolytic, which would be of supreme benefit to CF patients.) Notice that they didn't just ask you for a one-word answer, or just TELL you what the antidote was? Thus, they made you THINK and APPLY what you learned.

I totally agree with you. It seems that I saw this example somewhere when I looked for the same answer " Which one is better". Finally I took both to reduce my risk Your post in another thread is what I am thinking. Well said! Good luck for next steps if you still have!

To Yad: If you haven't already spent the money, I would suggest that you just do USMLEWorld alone, and if you have the time, do it twice. USMLEWorld is cheaper and *better* than Kaplan, period.
