Why not schizoid personality disorder?

  #5

What the BUN=30 and creatinine=1.2 are doing here? And acidosis? Could it be delirium from acute renal failure? I am not sure, I don't remember what my answer was, but all these lab values look really suspicious...

  #6

You can npt have acute renal failure with a creat which is normal.

the fact that the symptoms can be dated go against the diagnosis of personality disorder. this woman has symptoms beginning 2 weeks ago. atleast the mania that is, on a background of years of psychtic features.
personality disorders usually do not come with a date. also there would be other features of schizoid personality disorder, such as being a loner and likes being that way. the frank mania with which she presents also pushes the diagnosis towards a schizoaffective disorder.
let me know what you think.

Well Yes dr_arc you're right. I forgot the basic definition of personality disorder.
Yeah , that leaves me with only one answer, schizoaffective disorder.
Thanks for correcting me.

  #9

can it be schizophreniform disorder due to time mode ? ( schizophrenia less than 6 months ?)

  #10

Duration of symptoms: Schizophreniform = 1-6 months, Schizophrenia = > 6 months
