ATN: Hyalne casts (muddy brown)

AIN: Just eosinophils (WBCs casts)

  #3

ATN = Renal tubular Cell Casts

AIN = White Cell Casts.

AIN with Eosinophiluria indicates Allergic Nephritis while Without Eosinophils is Usually NSAID Induced AIN.

PMNs/ Eoisinophils/ basophils/ lymphocyes........... all WBC. Now depending on whatever the origin of problem u get the type of cast in urine.

When kidneys are involved u get casts but when it's lower down u get just cells.

Pyelonephritis gives.....WBC casts....same if were below wud give just WBCs. like GNs give RBC casts.

So in drug induced nephritis Eosinophils...casts or whatever but EOSINOPHILs.

and ATN hyaline casts..... (necrosed vessels and cells.) = Rt cell casts., hence the color.
