Hi everyone, I have a curiosity...If someone can get an AMAZING LOR from their teachers or other md's and they do not speak english, what should we do?

1. Should we have the letter transcribed ourselves, and if so, does it need to say it's an official/certified translation?

2. Or should we instruct the letter writter to have the letter translated and then they will sign it? (no mention of translating service-just straight up english written LOR)

I am asking because It occurred to me, that if they call the professors to discuss the letter, and the professors do not speak english, it might look bad for us. Thank you everyone for shedding some light upon this; I would love to hear BBB's opinion since she's a PC with many years of experience! Thank you!smiling face

1. I haven't received a LOR for the US that isn't written in English since before ERAS started. If you can, get the letter written and signed (remember the blue ink) in English.

Hi BBB, thank you for your reply, you are our wonderwoman, always here to help!nod I can get the letter in english, no problem, but I am wondering if it should say that it is a translation? Have you ever seen this in the countless letters you've read? Also, what if PD or PC call the letter writter and they do not speak an iota of english (well maybe they know how to say thank yougrin) what would they think of the letter? Thank you soooo much for your time! G.

If it's typed and signed in English, it's not a translation. If you are that worried about it - get a translation of your original language - it's not that much of a big deal.
