Yup, you got it!

As hemorrhagic shock becomes progrssive, many signs of generalized cellular deterioration are seen throughout the body ........ the lysosomes in the cells begin to break open (because of inadequet amounts of nutrients to support its high rate of metabolism) releasing hydrolases that cause further intracellular deterioraton.

do not get disheartened, my friend. there will be ups and downs. as long as the ups out-number the downs, you're doing fine for the moment.

tell me this: how many ATPase[s] is/are involved in skeletal muscle contr? what is its/are their names?

btw, i don't even understand the latest qn you left in phys forumconfused. [so much for feeling confident, huh!shaking headdisapproval ] will think about it some more, then answer.

i faced a qn this morning that threw me for a loop. it was about the mech of postural hypotension. and this is what i've learnt today, among others:

when rising to upright position from supine position, there is

1] inc in venous blood i.e. pooling

2] dec in CO

3] dec in BP [MAP, since MAP = CO * TPR]

compensatory mechanism [via Sympathetic stimulation] for this includes:

1] reflex venoconstriction [so TPR inc]

2] inc in HR

this is what is interfered with in postural hypotension, caused by some drugs and old age.

  #190

very imp concept! changes in BP during insp and exp.

during inspiration:

inc thoracic volume ----> negative intra thoracic vol ----> pooling of blood in pulm vasculature ----> dec blood returning to L heart ----> dec CO ----> transient drop in BP, to the extent of around 10MmHg.

during expiration:

dec thoracic volume ----> inc intra thoraciz pressure ----> blood gets pumped out of L heart ----> inc CO ----> transient rise in BP.

these changes are paradoxical, as during insp, dec BP occurs with inc VR, and during exp, inc BP occurs with dec VR [which is not usually the case]

Then the accomplishing of your work shall be no miracle - you shall be the miracle. Everyday you shall wonder at yourself and the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of god. "

REMEMBER THIS, PAHELI!!!

when upright, highest absolute pressure present i lowest listed artery. and greatest change in pressure in lowest listed vessel!!

electrical axis of heart lies b/w -30 and + 110 [degrees]

therefore, -30 to -90 defines L axis deviation

and +110 to +180 defines R axis deviation.

L axis dev seen in: 1. R MI

2. L conduction defect

3. aortic stenosis

4. long-standing HTN

5. V vent hypertrophy/dilatation

R axis dev seen in

1. L MI

2. R conduction defect

3. pulm stenosis

4. R vent hypertrophy/dilatation

5. pulm HTN

doing some qns from phys qbank. and i'm so surprized, coz it has so many mistakes. we've already spotted 2 at the discussion in phys forum. and i just found one more.raised eyebrow not good. i'm esp surprized coz it's kaplan!!disapproval who'd have thought!

ok, the slip-up i spotted was about O2 consumption by the heart. it can only be done by inc perfusion, coz heart extracts max O2 even under normal circumstances. [we in fact solved a qn on that] and the answer i saw said A-V difference increases! not possible!! anyway, i won't blindly annotate my book with their answers anymore!rolling eyes

ok, let me get back to some more qns for now.confused
