Hang in there, Paheli! You are quite a trooper-ette! I know you will catch up this week. By the way, i was reminded yesterday while doing my questions that there are two RNA virus families that replicate in the Nucleus. I knew about Retroviruses, but forgot about Paraymyxoviruses (i.e Influenza virus). Also remember that Pox virus family are the only DNA viruses that replicate in the cytoplasm! I love 'em virsuses...
Thank you for the offer for those question books, but believe me i have all those books and more. I actually have collected stuff for Step2 and Step3 already. During Basic Sciences, friends used to come over to my apt to borrow stuff from my mini medical library.
Ok, keep at it. It's definitely doable to finish this stuff in two days!

ok, my friends, this is a little disappointing,  but i'm heading to bed. i'm so wiped out. i sat in front of a bact page for more than a half hour, didn't flip the page once. i figured it's more sensible to get sleep rather than tire my brain for no gain. hopefully tmrw shall turn out better.
to all my friends here, i hope we all stay happy and peaceful always. we are such a down-to-earth and sedate bunch, always friendly, helpful, accomodating and straight forward. let's not allow that to change. let's not get ruffled because somebody exercised their right to speak, maybe in all good intentions. sometimes, when you read such a rare thread, i feel it does not belong in this forum. but, it does, and we created it. exams are hard, no doubt, but let's not take it out on each other. thanks for being there for me, and for everyone else.

ok, i've managed to complete parasites, and began with intro to virology. so i basically have another 3 hrs or so of dvds to watch. tmrw is a day dedicated to catch up , as i'd mentioned, i'm lagging quite a bit.
in fact, am planning to start right now. no time like the pesent....wish me luck, my friends!

hi everyone. another day, aug 15th, has gone by. and i don't seem to have made much progress in micro!! i've hit this huge wall, and i can't seem to get through/beyond/ahead/whatever it. what do i do??? i was going great guns last week......conquered immuno in a snap.......gobbled up pharm before that.....like it was my breakfast......
now, when i open my kln micro, i just can't seem to read at all!! what the hell!!! this can't be happening....so close to the finish! and i'm stumbling now........
i've nearly finished the vids, and have hardly done any review. not that am not trying. but just that i can't seem to progress. am in trouble now.  for real.

ok, plan for the rest of tonight. will do fa and uw. don't have mmrs, but i don't think i'll miss it while i have the other 2.

hi paheli...whats up buddy??hmm dont worry bugs are like this only bore and dull but hey i did not like pattern of bugs distribution in kaplan except for virus that is very good but for bacterias u shud go w/ MMRS but if dont want to do it not a problem,stick w/KLN but do few min. breathing excersise and start u have to do it,u can do it and u will do it..com'on

i've had enough of micro. God, just tell me i can quit. this is crazy stuff. can't handle those bloomin' bugs for a day longer. last few days, my frustration was being released in a subtle manner, then rather straight forward. now, i'm just going plain old crazy..........
i just want to get it over with. problem is, i have loads to cover before i can move on. pretty much all of bact and viro....[what else is left!!!]
i really have to make progress tmrw if i have to conquer this. will aim at completing all of virology. how does that sound? achievable, i hope!

i am not yet qualified to comment on this
but many of my classmates have taken step 1 and have got thru with 99
i used to talk to them while they were studying .. and most of them found tht micro did take more time than expected because unlike other subjects there is a lot to retain and less of what can be remembered by logic . more of memorisation and revision is required. try doing it alternate days and in between you can begin with ur next subject
that shd give you a break

ok all. i'm baaaack! what have i been up to all this while?
well, wrestling micro, of course. slow and steady........kinda winning the race. the last couple of days, i only had frustration and set backs to report......so decided to spare y'all the pain! anyhoo, i've now decided to take in small bites, in chewable sizes and regular doses. in the meantime, will start with dear giant, The Path!! [i think it deserves a name with caps!] hope this humble plan of mine works. coz aug end is very close.

touching base to report progress. began with the king of usmle-------The Path!!!
am getting used to papi's pronounciations- Ah-poptosis. and Caspa-sases!! btw i always thought it was caspases! that's what's written everywhere.
am trying to figure out if intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of apoptosis is hy. any ideas, my friends? should i read it in detail from biggie robbins?
should try and get some uw done tonight.
meanwhile, dinner time now!! am starved!!!

Yeah even I thought it was Caspases and not Casp-a-sases!
Pappi mentions that he read and re-read Ah-poptosis from Robbins and he did not get it.....even says he has ADHD so maybe that's why he did not get it ...and he has it ALL in the notes, ALL in his notes....so I'm thinking that should be enough.

another day has passed, another day closer to the inevitable.........oooooooohhhhhh!!! gotta work harder.
did some more vids today, also going along with Papi, holding my hand. am happy to see that many of the qns that he asks in class, i'm able to answer. nothing like it to boost your morale. sometimes, you feel like nothing really sticks in this thick head...and when you can answer Papi's, Papi's qns!!! you feel maybe you're not that lost!! not like this means that i'm ready to ace this test. but perhaps that one ear is plugged closed, and the other ear is left open, and that ear was turned toward the lecture!!!
well, midweek past already. i must squeeze the most of every moment left this week, so that i can be content that i couldn't have done more.
