I have some questions about some areas of the CAF.

1. I have a diploma for Trop Med.
The tropical medicine program is a diploma award so
should i classify it as 'degree unknown' in the category 'type
of degree' as the diploma category is not an option.

2. In the 'training ' section we are only required to
fill in any residencies or fellowhips or osteoapathic
internships.
Where do we fill in details of our regular clinical
internship /junior and senior house officer training
after an MBBS program?

3. In the licensure section ( pages 8 and 9 in CAF) ,
is only american licensure relevant? Is there any
where we can enter details of licensure form other
countries?

4. why are there 2 separate pages for race and
ethnicity?

5. My school does not provide MSPE. It provides a
standard format Deans no objection certificate with
dates of joining and leaving, and full details of
weeks and hours spent in medical studies as wel as
clincal trining. would this qualify as an MSPE?

6.Does the transcript refer to the medical school
transcripts for all subjects taught in preclinical and
clinical years. We have 4 separate transccripts for
this. the school does not supply a single marks
sheet.

7. What documents does ERAS expect to be mailed in the
original? What is the policy for return of documents?
What will happen if we mail in copies. I can provide
attested copies as just concerned about their getting
lost. ( attested in USA with a local notary public if
required)
If I provvide copies , at what point of the residency
application process will I be expected to show
originals? ( ie at interviews etc?)

I would be extremely grateful if someone could answere these or even some of these qs..thanks!!!

Well, I'll try at best to answer some of your question.....
A 1. Honestly, I've never heard of tropical medicine program. So what you should do is just check at first if you qualify for ECFMG certification coz in the fact sheet I remember reading that some med courses are not accredetid. If it is then you should just put it under the option for other and just name it somewhere it lets you. If you've done MBBS and then that tropical thing is a post grad then mention in the space for residency or fellow training.

A 2. well you dont have to fill anytin here, it usually goes in your transcript of medical school.

A 3. yes only if you have a US lisence.

A 4. they just wanna know for stastical reasons.

A 5. Nope. Go to the ERAS site and look for the download documents. there is a text on what the MSPE is all about. GO throu it and you'll know what it is. If you can't get a MSPE the ECFMG puts in a neutral letter in it's place.

A 6. Yes it is medical school transcript. And since they scan only 5 pages you can decide wihch 5 pages you want scanned and can include the pages which gives information bout you r marks there.

A 7. If you are conderned about your originals getting lost you can always send them by DHL or a courrier service. Go to ECFMG.org and it has all the information you are asking bout what originals needs to be sent, what copies need to be sent, where it should be sent and how. Take the time to read throu the site and you'll have a much better idea of what they want you to do and how it should be done.

Well if it still isnt clear and goes over your head I recomend calling the ECFMG at the number provided on their site and they will be more than happy to help you out.
Good Luck.

Well for answer to the second question, i kinda disagree coz there's no such thing as house officer training. If you are working as a house officer as in "plain post" then it come's under work experience and if you were as a resident in a certificate granting program then it's a residency no matter how short. so it'l kinda like an additional qualification.

@ zygone..thats what i was mentioning..

internship=traning=work experince in CAF

house office=job=work experince in CAF
