I am reading the new kaplan notes and comparing with the information from 2002 edition for biochem. The Fasting state is still the same (Fatty acids, and then Ketones).

The new book states Cardiac myocytes get their energy in Fed state from FATTY ACIDS. In the old book it used to say "glucose".

I actually looked this up and found confirmation in the Review Series article of the Journal of Clinical Investigation (March 2005).

This actually make sense, with the type of energy demand the heart has. Well, i guess we could also wonder why the nervous system hasn't evolved to the point of using other sources of energy precursors. anyway, let me get back to the books...
