I am a bit confused. I heard that the original LOR needs to be sent out from the letter writers office directly to the Deans Office, or in the case of an IMG, to ECFMG. However, looking at the ERAS document submission form, it seems that you can send the original LOR yourself. I have just noticed that the cover sheet instructs the letter writer to the AAMC ID in the letter - I thought it was the ECFMG number and will need to get this changed. Also, is it preferable to have the LOR restricted to one page in case people think you forged the page without the signature? Thanks BD

Yes, you can send the LORs yourself, but "only" if you didn't waive your right to see it. We had the discussion about which one is better and came to the conclusion that most PDs prefer letters, which are not seen by the applicants. So if you waive your right and your letter writer sends it directly, he doesn't need the ERAS submission form, just the cover sheet(with the AAMC ID on it) and he can write as many pages as he wants. If the AAMC ID is not on the letter itself, don't sweat it too much.
