Step 2 CK Exam date - July 3rd 2007
I thought of sharing my exam preperation, though I don't think it will be muh different from what has already been posted as I followed those advices! So thanks to all those who shared their experiences in this forum.
I took 4 months full time to prepare for this exam.( I am an IMG) Read Kaplan notes first. Following that did the Kaplan Qbook, which I thought was way too simple. Did UW after that and wrote down all the stuff which was not covered in the Kaplan notes. I scored about 60% in UW and I did all the questions in tutor mode. I read through the Kaplan notes and my notes twice following this. I also did the USMLE released CD, and NBME form 1 - scored 610, 2 weeks before the exam.
Now for the exam experience:
Mostly IM , but the other areas had a fair representation too. ABout 60% of the questions I would say were straight forward but the rest were kind of vague, and I felt that I could have done with at least 5 more minutes for each block. I did not have time to review many marked questions.

Great Score, CONGRATS! Smashed it BIG TIME! What were the things that you concentrated o between the NBME and the actual exam? Also did you do the practice cd? If yes when and what were the scores like?

Do questions resemble UW? Or let me rephrase it - Did you find doing UW helped you more than the practice CD? Thanks for your comments in advance!

congratulatios!!!!great achivement....will u pz throw light on kap step 2 dvds??/are they as amp. as in step 1 (few subjects)..and ..GL for the next one..

Thank you all for the wishes.
For the last 2 weeks of the exam I just read through the Kaplan notes and the notes I had taken. I also went through the all the pictures in FA. Harrison's textbook of medicine also has a section of color atlas in it which I thought was useful for the actual exam.
Yes I did do the practice CD, 2 blocks about 5 weeks before,and 1 block about 3 weeks before the exam.( Timed) Score was 41/39/42.
UW was a lot more similar to the actual exam, but there were some questions similar to the CD too.
I have no idea about the Kaplan DVDs.

Kaplan DVD's for step 2 ck are not as good.... I would just recommend some IM but there comes a point where they become boaring because they do not teach you anything new... did not watch surgery because they were like 40 videos and it is just a guy reading the whole thing.... pediatrics are terrible also a guy reading the lectures.... did not watch psych and behavioral....I would just recommend obgyn since I was terrible and thanks to those videos I got to understand this subjects and did very well in my exam. I did the exact same thing as Kumar and scored 259/99. I would recommend to just watch IM and obgyn. GL you guys
