Dear Friends I wrote my exam on 30th July. I have a mixed feeling about my result so I can't say exactly what to do and what not to do. What I am writing here is to give an idea to help you out whats on the exam and what you can do to improve your study. ANATOMY: Embryology: No arches pouches stuff but rather derivatives was asked in a twisted manner. May be a few more but not much. So I think if you do FA it would suffice. Histology: Nothing directly as of what I can remember now. Few questions which could be related to it but not like histo per se. Gross Anatomy: There were few questions like may be 3-5 in each block. Some CTs and MRIs but were easy relatively than what I expected. Neuroanatomy: Heavily tested. All forms like CTs, MRIs, but doable. Histo, patho, pharma, micro all were tested so do it properly and in detail. PHYSIO: Mostly graphs and charts. Many questions some were real tough some not so. PATHO: Heavily tested. Some questions were absoloutely give aways. Not many slides but whatever came were answerable by the description given in the questions. Long questions with about on the average 5 choices to pick from. PHARMA: Mostly ANS in graphs, some Anti cancer, some antibiotics not very weird. MICRO: Straight questions mostly bacteria and viruses few parasites and protozoa BEH.SC/BIOSTATS: Many questions on doctor patient/ ethics/ psychiatry on mood disorders. Few questions on Biostats mostly doable BIOCHEMISTRY: Very heavily tested. So do it good. Metabolism and genetics. Genetics not very weird. In the end study well initially because on exam day it will be your remote memory which will help you a lot. Memorize FA in the end for instant recall. If you go for questions style i would say in between Kaplan and UW. So dont panic if you are getting low scores on UW exam questions are much easier than whats the pattern of UW. This is my experience and some humble suggestions. I hope someone could benefit from it. If i pass this exam you will see more of me here otherwise I don't know may be I will be moving to someother direction. Feel free to ask questions I will try to answer them at my earliest. GL

king: I did last 5 chapters twice only. I had done bio and genetics from KLN, KME and FA. On exam day I was able to recall from Kaplan but KME did help me in clearing concepts and organizing them in my mind. The questions were not out of the world. Thankyou my friends I thankyou again for your wishes and I hope and pray to Allah that I am able to live up to your expectations of passing this exam.

Thanks kg. Well, the slides were mostly related to the text given along. But you need to know your basics like for example you got to know how a basic CT is read and where the major organs are located. I can't tell the exact stem here but I can tell you that at least have a look at the normal CTs and MRIs specially brain, chest and abdomen. Also do angio of brain and heart I got one on brain. Slides were mostly gross specimen not the histo slides, so be cool with it. Do Goljan slides at least once before the exam. Inshallah it will be suffice. There were no audio visuals on my exam. I looked at the headphones there and after a detailed inspection and noticing the chit pasted on the wall i came to know that it was meant for internet toefl. So relax for av questions. Paheli : Subjects heavily tested were Patho, Biochemistry and Neuroanatomy.

thanks, okotb. a-v qns in step 1 is scheduled to be introduced from 2008, so some of us will escape that, though we'll have to face them in 2 ck, as they are introducing them in 2ck from this month i.e. aug '07.
