The thing is that I feel so hungry, when I am studying, and even more when I am not Its like not normal these days… any suggestions to control the hunger.. and study for longer hours without eating….

i have that problem too. i tend to much on healthier foods though... almonds, peanuts. crunchy vegetables... and alot of water... i am now addicted to flavored water...

listen 2 this insane advice: simualte xaqm circumstances when u study dont eat dont listen 2 music there will b no music on xam do study during early morning

vwilldoit, I have the exact same problem, fortunatelly I am not eating that much because I started doing exercise and I am kind of like in a diet, just trying to eat right, but what I do is that instead of going and grabbing junk snacks, I drink green tea (lipton's mandarine, grapegruit flavor), with splenda and I also keep a water bottle so I drink my hunger away!!!

I am eating a lot of sunflower seeds... but that is not helping me... damselMD, I will try to increase my water consumption.... Yoga, music is not the problem, so one things I dont have to exclude, the early morning studying I shall encorporate, but it means eating another breakfast .Novak I tried the exercise thing, but then I became so much tired that I sleep in the afternoons.. I really need help...

hey starbrite,I have to preapare my own meals. The readymade food that attracts is fatty, cant help, If I cook, it takes about 1and half hrs in the whole day, (vegetarian)I cook 2 times and always want to eat fresh food.... , dont like refrigerated stuff. The coffee is included in the evening when I am feeling a bit tired... but by that time I have already eaten a lot . I want to try something different, I hope to find a way out... thanks a lot

It's very normal for ppl to eat alot while studying...well, i maybe the crazy one here but i'm actually trying to lose weight while i'm studying & it makes u VERY preoccupied w/ food...it was okay when i was younger because even though i snacked alot I never gained weight... just while studying for this exam i gained 10+ lbs...so inbtwn I tried calorie countin n' now southbeach...n' i'll tell u something that'll b very helpful!!....watch the glycemic index of the food u eat...I used to be such a night time craver I'd eat a whole packet of cookies (about 40) & I used to think that my cravings were psychological...I really thought it was my psychological problem w/ food...but as soon as I started southbeach my cravings were gone...it was miraculous, I was always a cynic w/ atkins, & low carb diets but as soon I figured out HOW the diet worked, it made sense...& it's more healthy...but Ill tell u that southbeach is healthy, atkins isn't....I won't be suprised if FDA regulations soon will be promoting low glycemic foods... though i'm not gona explain the diet to you, i'll explain the main concept...which u most of u vegetartians are following pretty much...all refined sugars, flours etc...make u crave more... why? coz insulin spikes up & then u crave more....whereas proteins, fats, milks, cheese & low carb food items such as veggies & even fruits to an extent have a low potential to spike your insulin high & therefore doesn't make u "crave" foods...now...my suggestion is not to follow strictly w/ this coz of course, u don't have to lose weight, & you're studying...so if you do want carbs go for good carbs...which are brown rice, brown bread, whole wheat pasta etc...which don't spike u're insulin high & cause slower gastric emptying... & though it'd be nice to be paid by south beach for advertisement unfortunately i'm not...but my story's a true testimonial...my cravings have vanished!! My eating portions are so normal (unlike before)...even though u're ALLOWED to eat as much as u like (w/in limits) you end up eating really normal portions...i hope inshallah (God willing) i'll get to do more research on this & even promote such a healthy eating plan to my own patients one day, inshallah anywayz, the summary is eat healthy, low glycemic foods, that are fat-free or low-fat, & eat good oils & good carbs...n' cut out bad carbs like sugars, corn syrup, any enriched manufactured flours... as for my second suggestion which may or may not help, not sure coz it can have the opposite effect...while I was at kaplan I'd stay there the whole day & so eat whatever I brought w/ me frm home (very lil) ...but I wouldn't get that hungry coz i'd be preoccupied w/ studying...this helped me out for sometime...so my suggestion is to goto a place like a library, stay the day there & study so u don't really have the option of opening the fridge every 5 mins or so (my bad habit)...but this may backfire because u may end up making u really hungry at night....to make this work u'd have to sleep early but if u sleep late u could end up craving... i hope this helps

lol!!! and i thought i was the only one piggin' out with my books!! am a veggie too. so the calories i save on not eating high-cal meats i more than make up with the junk food!

p.s. i really have this suspicion that it's not only cals that make you put on weight. even eating healthy, but sitting on a chair all day .........i think plain ol' gravity may play a role too...!!
